The New Global PSP: Two Major Strategic Initiatives

Educational and Training Programs

Programs being conducted around the world: both virtually and in-person (when virus is under control).

Making use of the vast and diverse resources of the Global PSP Community (more than 600 graduates from 10 countries)

Making use of what we have learned over the past decade about effective delivery of education and training at a distance (including the unique three mode model of delivery)

Focusing on three areas: (1) clinical psychology, (2) organizational psychology and (3) health psychology.

Moving toward accreditation from the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)

Three Tiers linked to three outcome levels

Tier One: Workshops: usually 2-4 sessions of 1 ½ hour apiece (you will get a sense of this tier with the brief sessions being held today. Outcomes: Understanding

Tier Two: Certificate Programs: usually a total of 15-30 contact hours (either digital or in person) with outside work and use of 3 mode model. Often a combination of several workshops, plus some additional requires (including mini portfolio) Outcomes: Competency

Tier Three: Diplomate Programs (suggested by Ivan Lim): a combination of several certificate programs – leading to awarding of “diploma” in something like “advanced clinical psychological practices” or similar in organizational and/or health psychology. Outcomes: Mastery

Research and Publications

Building of the Edge of Knowledge initiatives already engaged by members of the Global PSP community and the existing publication venues of PSP

Three initiatives

Virtual Meetings: for Shared Dialogue and Generation of Video Recordings and Written Material for Publication: (1) the Global Psychology Task Force, and (2) The Writers Circle (North America and Asia)

Journals: (1) Library of Professional Psychology (now over 300 entries and two digital journals) (“living documents – continual updates and additions along with Vimeo-based video recordings), (2) Library of Professional Coaching (now over 1,000 entries and for past six years has been identified as one of the five most important coaching resources in the world), (3) the Educational Arch (a new web-site that repurposes psp.edu and focuses on education at all three levels: primary, secondary and post-secondary)

Publications: Ash Point Publishing with three publication outlets: (1) Professional Psychology Press, (2) Atlantic Soundings (social critical studies) and (3) Pacific Soundings Press (long-time outlet for publication of paperback books – especially in postsecondary education).
