PSP Bulletin Board
The PSP Bulletin Board contains information about the many activities being offered by members of the PSP Global Psychological Community. These activitier include two kinds of “salon” that provide settings for rich, constructive dialogue. Following is a link to a prestation on the “spirit” of the salon (offered by John Kruski a members of the PSP Global Communitt) along with a summary of and link to the two Salon-Base activities now engged by PSP. Here is link to the PSP Salons.
We also offer the brief description to and link to the two Salons on this website.
The PSP Studios
We initiated a program in 2020 that once again features films (and documentaries). The format for this film festival program is somewhat different, of course, given the much broader geography of PSP at the present time (with members of the Global PSP community from 10 countries) and the opportunity to interact with one another digitally (via Zoom). We invite participants to independently view the film (or documentary) ahead of time.
Then we convene a Saturday Zoom session (1 ½ hours in length) to share our perspective on the film or documentary. The time zone challenges are met by scheduling our Zoom call at 9am in the Eastern USA and Canada, which is 6am on the West Coast in USA and Canada, 5pm in Europe and Israel, and either 9pm or 10pm in Asia. The PSP Studio is intended as a virtual setting in which participants can share their own personal perspectives on the film or documentary that they have each viewed—as well as engage in a dialogue regarding the psychological ramifications of the movie’s or documentary’s theme(s).
The PSP Laboratories
The PSP Laboratory—like the traditional science (chemistry, physics or biology) laboratory is a setting in which new perspectives and practices are introduced and tested out through processes of collaborative inquiry engaged by members of the Global PSP community. Specifically, the PSP laboratories are designed to provide: sustained support for and provision of venues for constructive dialogue among members of the PSP community from around the world who are dedicated to improvement of the human conditions under the current conditions of volatility, uncertainly, complexity, ambiguity, turbulence and contradiction (VUCA Plus).
The PSP Laboratory is unique in several important ways. First, it is a venue for reflection and dialogue. Second, action plans are generated based on the laboratory-based inquiry. Third, action is interwoven with constructive dialogue and learning from the work that has been engaged (action learning). Fourth, outcomes of the reflective practices and action learning that takes place are documented and shared with a much broader audience through publication of essays on the Communities Collaborating website (owned by PSP) and in the PSP-sponsored Library of Professional Psychology. Larger scale and sustained inquiries also lead to preparation and publication of books by the Professional Psychology Press (which is one of three presses operated by the PSP-affiliated Ash Point Publishing).
The PSP Field Station
There is a third initiative being taken by the PSP Global Community that further ernrichs the dialogue being engaged at the school. This is the PSP Field Station. It focuses on the collection of information regasrding important psychological issues making use of digitaslly-based survey tools. The Field Stations is an important unit of PSP’s Edge of Knowledge Research Center.
The Edge of Knowledge: As an institution committed to offering education and training, as well as publications at the “cutting edge” of professional psychology, PSP has established a center that provides a base for ongoing research in areas of particular interest to members of the PSP community. These research projects, in turn, lead to the production of social media materials, the publication of articles in the Library of Professional Psychology, and the creation of new programs.
