Gay Teurman, Psy.D., MFT, BCN

Dr. Gay Teurman, MFT, BCN is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Board-Certified Neurofeedback practitioner through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) with advanced certification in QEEG-DL brain mapping and neurophysiological assessment. She is the Founder of Teurman Consulting, LLC and Clinical Director of the Brain Health Clinic in Sacramento, California, a specialized health psychology practice dedicated to the assessment and treatment of complex neurological and psychological conditions including traumatic brain injury, post-concussive syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder, cognitive decline, chronic depression, and anxiety.

Dr. Teurman’s clinical work focuses on the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and integrative medicine, combining quantitative EEG brain mapping, neurofeedback, neuromodulation, and evidence-informed health psychology interventions to optimize brain function and support long-term cognitive and emotional recovery. Her approach emphasizes the brain’s capacity for change and resilience through targeted, science-informed interventions.

Recognized for her expertise in applied neuroscience and clinical neurotherapy, Dr. Teurman provides professional training, consultation, and mentorship for clinicians seeking to integrate brain-based assessment and neurofeedback into clinical practice, including mentorship for professionals pursuing BCIA neurofeedback credentialing. Through supervision and consultation, she supports practitioners in developing competency in neurophysiological assessment, neuromodulation, and integrative brain-health approaches.

In addition to her clinical leadership, Dr. Teurman has held prominent academic positions including Chief for Student Engagement and Dean of International Programs at the Professional School of Psychology, where she also served as an Adjunct Professor. Her academic work has included the development of graduate training programs, international academic collaborations, and instruction in psychological assessment, clinical practice, and professional development.

Dr. Teurman has extensive experience in clinical program development, health psychology, co-occurring disorders, professional ethics, and mental health policy development, including work related to regulatory standards governing patient rights, confidentiality, and ethical clinical care. She has also contributed to government systems analysis and the implementation of community-based behavioral health initiatives designed to improve access to mental health services.

Dr. Teurman is also an educator, mentor, and consultant to clinicians seeking to incorporate neurofeedback and brain-based therapies into clinical practice, including mentorship for professionals pursuing BCIA neurofeedback credentialing.
