Psychologue: 2021: Issue One
Alumnus Update: Jim Jones
To give you a taste of what an alumni update might look like, here is one already submitted by Jim Jones, who graduated from PSP during the 1980s:
I graduated quite a while ago. Previously I had been a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist. then a Program Manager at Napa State Hospital. Upon graduating from PSP the hospital hired me as a Clinical Psychologist then as their Chief of Psychology. In addition, I worked for the City of Napa Police Department, CA Dept of Rehabilitation, and the CA Highway Patrol. Each service agency bestowed a variety of honors upon my work for them.
Upon receiving each honor I would reflect how the excellent academic work provided by PSP provided me with the education, training, and preparation needed for my work assignments. Much of this work occurs during a crisis, including involvement with homicides and suicides.
Since retiring from the Chief of Psychology position at NSH I relocated to Los Angeles where I am on Mayor Garcetti’s Crisis Response Team and the American Red Cross Disaster Response Team and its Service to the Armed Forces program. This work also has been recognized.
Again, I feel very fortunate to have graduated from PSP. The school prepared me with the confidence and knowledge needed to help others in times of crisis. If you ever need a written endorsement from a graduate I am at your service.
By the way I just learned that my film, Green Banana, is a finalist for Best Picture at the Seoul International Short Film Festival. The film was well-received in Tokyo and now headed to a festival in London. It has won several awards in L.A. I am the Executive Producer, wrote the film, and acted in it .
